I’m an ancient historian who focuses on archaic and classical Greek religion. You can find out more about what I do under the 'Research' tab.
I'm a Teaching Fellow in Ancient History in the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History at the University of Leicester, and a Research Associate at the Institute of Classical Studies in London. I'm also the post-PhD disability liaison for the Women's Classical Committee.
I love teaching, and I aim to develop innovative and interesting classrooms. I am not into creating a false hierarchy in my classrooms, instead I strive to develop open learning environments, in which students take an active role.
I sometimes write about my research (and will be doing more of this in the coming months, as I begin a new project), but I currently write predominantly about my academic practice - including researching, writing, and teaching.
I am also one of the new ECRchat moderators. The chats are held on Twitter every second Thursday, and you can see more over at the ECRchat website.
I tweet @elliemackin, and also write on the Post-PhD Life blog at jobs.ac.uk. I vlog about my research, research planning, teaching, and PhD and ECR issues on my YouTube Channel. If you want to get in touch feel free to email me. I often film my vlogs sitting in front of my bookcase at home, if you're curious about what's on it, you can check out my Libib library.
